Judy Carver, Memoir of her father ...
This memoir will draw on her own knowledge and memories of him and the stories he told her. Much about his early life and background is recorded in his own journals and other writings, and in his father's own diary. She has also interviewed many people who knew him (including former pupils), as well as doing independent research. Archives at Oxford and at the schools where he taught have revealed much. His wartime record, and his recollections of that time, have provided a picture of those experiences which greatly affected him. Many of the Goldings' relatives and friends have helped, and these sources, combined with the papers of a family who hardly ever threw the written word away, are leading to a rich, complex and lifelike portrait.
Carver is also editing her father's Journals and Letters, and has unique insight into his life and work because of her closeness to him as a person, and her role as custodian of his papers.
She would be extremely interested to hear from anyone who had knowledge of him personally, or has reminiscences to share about him. She is also very eager to hear from anyone at all who has letters, or any sort of correspondence from him, or has information about the whereabouts of such material.
