Round-up of William Golding in the news in October 2018!
Julia Teti, in the Polygon, compared AMC’s The Walking Dead to Lord of the Flies. Teti particularly notes the similarities between main character Rick Grimes, and Golding’s hero, Ralph. We also examined the relationship between the book and the TV show, here.
GQ identified ‘Lord of the Flies-style factions’ in UK reality programme, The Circle, broadcast by Channel 4.
Lord of the Flies was included in The Independent’s list of ‘The Top 10: Parodies more successful than their originals’. Lord of the Flies was Golding’s response to R.M. Ballantyne’s The Coral Island.
